Welcome to the 2016 Redeemer Cup!
Every four years, the world comes together around soccer (football). But with more than 40 recent immigrant and refugee groups here in our city (not to mention previous waves of Italian, Irish, German, Polish, Lebanese and other immigrants), we have the world right here in Utica!
That is why we are excited to present Utica’s own World Cup, June 3-June 5, 2016 at Proctor Park in Utica, NY. This weekend 16 teams representing Utica’s various communities will compete for the 2015 Redeemer Cup.
This event is hosted by Redeemer Church in Utica. You will also see messages from our sponsors. In thanks for their generous support of this community event, let’s support them in return. Our purpose in establishing the Redeemer Cup is to create a bridge-building event that will bring people together and promote peace, friendship and a sense of community in our city. We know that many of the competitors and their families and friends have left their homes under extremely adverse conditions and have come to the United States for a second chance at life. We want to celebrate their stories of redemption.
Enjoy the games, get something to eat, and more importantly, look around! Meet people. Make friends. You might have more in common than you think.
