This year’s World Cup will be in South Africa. But with our diverse population, we have the world right here in Utica! That is why we are excited to announce Utica’s own international soccer tournament on June 12th & 13th at Proctor Park on Culver Ave. Representing communities such as the Belarussians, Bosnians, Burmese, Salvadorans, Somali Bantu, Sudanese, and of course, the Italians, 16 teams will be competing for the first annual Redeemer Cup. Come to the Redeemer Cup and enjoy a day of spirited, World Cup-style competition. Kids will enjoy face painting and presentations by the Utica Zoo’s ZooMobile, and everyone will enjoy the great food. Water and ice cream will also be available. In a cosmopolitan atmosphere, you might even learn something about our community and make a new friend. Don’t Miss the Opening Ceremony, with guest appearances by community leaders, an Olympic-style parade of the teams, and the National Anthem.
